Patient Transformation Stories: Maria Loses 100 Pounds in 9 Months
Description
My life before surgery was so limited, and I didn’t realize it until after my surgery. I would get out of breath just getting out of bed or walking from my room the kitchen, my knees and back would ache because of all the weight I was carrying around. My biggest frustrations were not being able to fit in certain clothes anymore and seeing my health deteriorate right in front of me and me being the cause. I had developed Gastroparesis because of my overeating habits, If I had food left on my plate no matter how full I was I would still eat it. I considered having surgery two years prior to me actually having surgery because I didn’t want it to seem like I was taking “the easy way out” so I did a lot of research about the surgery’s offered, surgeons in my area, and tried to lose the weight on my own with no success. What made me decide to go for it was my age, I was 24 and wanted to be able to live a full life because I had been overweight my entire childhood and teen years I knew it was time for a change and I was determined and willing to do everything possible for surgery to happen for me. The Texas Center team was amazing! I felt so comfortable with everyone. My life now that I’ve had surgery is like living a new life as a new person, random people come up to meand tell me how beautiful I am(before surgery that didn’t happen) I can fit into clothing sizes that I haven’t in years. I don’t get winded walking up my stairs anymore. I started traveling because I am more comfortable riding on an airplane without feeling like I was taking up space from the person sitting next to me, everything is just so much better after the surgery.
